Allkotes is always looking for new ideas and is determined to keep up the search despite the difficulties facing the industry.

Business Development Manager, Darren Delaney, says the tough conditions are really squeezing margins which makes innovation expensive but the company is doing its best to keep offering new exciting alternatives in areas of coating, lamination & foil stamping to the book publishers.

“We have stayed up there with the rest of the world and having just attended Graph Expo, a design conference & several company visits in Chicago last month, Allkotes can certainly be proud of its product range and reputation.

“Our licensed product, Micromotion from the US, is advancing all the time with new patterns, designs & concepts and some of the sensational finishes produced by our own Special Effects team are as good as anything available in the US.

“We are also meeting the environmental push with our new film laminating product, BioKote, which is a biodegradable and compostable film from a sustainable forest source.

“Unfortunately the product is expensive and not always commercially viable as it is produced in very small quantities but we believe other products from ethanol-based sources such as corn and sugar will come on stream eventually at better commercial rates.

“Believe it or not, corn-derived films are not acceptable to everybody as they can be described as genetically modified and they do take food off peoples’ tables.

“It is an ongoing debate due to the severe food shortages in certain parts of the world but this industry is planning for growth with new film producing plants being built in countries such as the US and Brazil.

“Allkotes will continue to monitor the world situation and will endeavour to be at the forefront when new products and exciting new designs are made available at commercially acceptable prices.

“It is important to remember to contact Allkotes whenever a new idea or design hits your desk as the company is extremely well connected around the world and if the base material or technology is not available at home, the company will quickly search overseas for the answers.

“We all want to see books produced in Australia”, Says Darren.

Micromotion, better known as MicroKote in Allkotes terms, is just about the best thing to happen in coating and laminating in years.

It is just a sensational finish which breaks new bounds by taking the print graphic into a 3rd dimension with outstanding effects.

Allkotes is proud to be licensed by Serigraph in the U.S for the adaptation of Micromotion for the Australian and New Zealand print market.

It is particularly relevant to Point of Sale as it turns any poster, stand ups, counter cards, light box graphics into something special with a swirl and burst of colour and visual effect for the best in eye catching appeal.

Meet Darren Delaney, our Business Development Manager, based in the National office in Sydney.

After nearly ten years in sales, more recently as site manager for one of our major plants in Turrella, Sydney, Darren has now moved to the newly created role of Business Development.

And creative is the operative word as Darren’s main role is to support our client base right from the start of a project in the concept stage.
